This web page
illustrates how some bridge piers, bridges and roadways of the
freeway system are constructed. The first image shows
how the native saguaro was a major design inspiration for the
bridge pier. The saguaro pattern is cast-in-place into
the concrete with varying depths and textures. The lower
outer left image is an example of one of many different types
of large scale construction tractors used grade the roadways.
The lower middle image shows how a team of construction workers
pouring a roadway curb with a cement truck mixer. The
lower right image illustrates how a bridge parapet/barrier is
constructed in 10ft. segments with rebar in the center and form
liners installed afterwards to cast the concrete pattern. |
