| This portion
of the US 60 Freeway goes through the Cities of Mesa and Tempe.
The pattern selected by these two communities is the Mountain
maze which is inspired by the ancient Hohokam Indian pottery
and surrounding mountains. The first image shows a concrete
cast-in-place version of the pattern that is built in 28ft wide
sections. The lower outer left and middle images show
the patterns are constructed out of standard concrete blocks.
The lower right image shows how the massive walls are painted
with large spray paint wands. The color selected is ADOT
